Happy Valentine’s Day

Filed under: fines, holidays — conestogalrc @ 8:16 pm

The Learning Resource Centre spread the love on February 14th by offering “amnesty” to students with overdue books. Students who returned their books on Valentine’s Day were able to have their fines waived. The LRC also had some sugary treats available (which were a lot easier to share with the new food policy)!

Freedom to Read during Reading Week

Filed under: censorship, reading — conestogalrc @ 3:41 pm

What better way to pass the time during Reading Week than to do a bit of leisure reading? Freedom to Read week is February 25-March 3, 2007 and encourages “to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom.”  The Learning Resource Centre has a paperback collection that has a variety of fiction, including some titles that have made the Challenged Books list such as the Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
