Halloween by the Numbers

Filed under: holidays, news, resources — conestogalrc @ 11:46 am

So you think statistics are dull? Well the folks at Statistics Canada have gathered together some fun, interesting, and morbid stats for Halloween in Canada.

How many children in Canada are of trick-or-treating age? What are some scary place names in Canada? How many funeral directors work in Canada? Are there witches and warlocks in Canada? Answer these and more on the StatCan site!

Statistics Canada: Hallowe’en by the numbers: http://www42.statcan.ca/smr08/smr08_094_e.htm

For more help on how to use Statistics Canada and E-Stat for your own research, come in and visit the staff at the Information Desk!

Happy Valentine’s Day

Filed under: fines, holidays — conestogalrc @ 8:16 pm

The Learning Resource Centre spread the love on February 14th by offering “amnesty” to students with overdue books. Students who returned their books on Valentine’s Day were able to have their fines waived. The LRC also had some sugary treats available (which were a lot easier to share with the new food policy)!
